What is a lone worker?
A lone worker is anyone who works alone without close or direct supervision, they can be:
An Employers responsibility
An employer has the same health and safety responsibilities to a lone worker as any other employee, in fact it is likely that extra precautions will need to be taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of lone workers.
Read the Working Alone publication from the Health and Safety Executive for guidance on the risks of working alone.
Complying with these guidelines has become increasingly important, with the recent publication of the Guidelines on Corporate Manslaughter, the sentencing council have stated that fines for companies found guilty of corporate manslaughter will ‘…seldom be less than £500,000’ and could stretch to the millions.
Our Solution
The Skyline lone worker add-on can be teamed with either our Skyline or Skyline + products, this simple in vehicle solution gives lone workers reassurance that assistance is close to hand whilst allowing employers to meet their legal and moral duty of care.
The lone worker device has a pre-set timer requiring the driver to check-in with the host by activating the system indicating all is well. If the time period expires without the driver checking in then the system will generate an alert. Similarly the driver can override the pre-set timer generating an instant alarm.
Alert messages can either be self-monitored via SMS or email or can be routed through to our Secure Operating Centre who provide 24/7 monitoring.
